Out of This World Snacks

Teach kids about the wonders (and fun!) of space while introducing them to healthy snacks and fun treats. These are easy for little hands to make or help with, and are fast, simple snack options for back to school lunch boxes or after school snacks between events.

Rocket Hot Dogs

Shoot for the stars with this simple protein-packed lunch. Wrap Thousand Hills beef hot dogs in crescent roll dough, spear with a wood skewer and bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Let cool slightly and add cheddar cheese “rocket tails” to the end.

Phases of the Moon Cookies

Use chocolate crème-filled cookies (we love Newman-Os) to learn about the phases of the moon over a 29-day cycle.

Eat The Moon Snacks

Spread plain cream cheese on organic brown rice cakes and add banana slices and round cereal pieces for craters (we used Love Grown Chocolate Power Os). Watch them orbit their way into hungry mouths!

Astronaut Pudding

Water is heavy, so everything that astronauts eat is freeze-dried, dehydrated or vacuum-sealed in pouches. They rehydrate their food with water and you can too.

  1. Combine 1 Tbsp instant pudding mix and 2 tsp powdered milk in bag
  2. Zip & shake.
  3. Add just under ½ cup of water
  4. Zip and shake, squish and squeeze until well mixed
  5. Don’t let your food float away in zero gravity! Snip a small corner of the bag to safely squeeze and eat.
