Holiday Survival Tips
Holiday stress, travel, cold temperatures and shorter daylight hours can make us more susceptible to feeling down. Here are a few of our favorite holiday survival tips.
Take 5-10 minutes for yourself each day. Spend 5 -10 minutes away from friends and family to do something you enjoy, such as listening to music or doing a brief meditation.
Get plenty of rest. Although packed social calendars can make sleep seem less appealing, try to set aside at least seven hours for sleep each night. If you’re having trouble getting to sleep, add a few drops of lavender essential oil to your diffuser or nighttime bath.
Keep your digestive system happy with bitters and peppermint. Eating more frequently than usual plus large serving sizes of our favorite holiday foods can take a toll on our digestive systems. Adding a few drops of bitters or organic peppermint essential oil to a glass of water between meals can help soothe an upset stomach.
Find energy naturally. For a quick burst of energy, add local organic honey to your hot beverage or spread a dollop on a slice of toast. Load up on protein-packed foods like eggs and almonds to keep you going.
