Super Easy Turkey Lettuce Wraps
You need to try these delicious, fast, gluten-free and kid-approved lettuce wraps with toppings galore! Great for picky eaters and to encourage kids to try new veggies in the mix (chopped and minced veggies are easy to disguise within the recipe). The local, all-natural ground turkey gets kicked up with tahini and ginger, but is still subtle enough for kid’s palates.
Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey
2 Tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
¼ cup chopped onion
1 garlic clove, minced
¼ cup coconut aminos or soy sauce
1 tsp ground ginger
½ cup tahini
1 Tbsp rice vinegar
2-3 Tbsp water, if needed
1 head butter or romaine lettuce
Chopped scallions
Shredded carrots
Sesame seeds
Directions
Brown turkey, onion and garlic in oil, season with salt and pepper. In small sauce pan, gently heat aminos or soy sauce, ginger, tahini, vinegar and enough water to make a sauce. Stir until smooth. Stir half of sauce into browned meat, reserve remainder. Serve in lettuce leaves, top with garnishes and a bit of the remaining sauce.
Hero Tip: Triple the filling, serve 1/3 for dinner tonight, freeze remaining two portions for busy nights ahead!
