Lakewinds 50th Anniversary
This year marks a special milestone: Lakewinds’ 50th anniversary! Throughout the year, we’ll be marking the occasion in ways big and small, as we celebrate our past and look forward to what’s next.
Following are some of the fun ways we’re celebrating, as we say “cheers” and plan for the next 50!

Lakewinds’ milestones at a glance
Some things have stayed the same since Lakewinds’ humble beginnings in 1975: support for farmers, love for local, care for community, focus on the environment. But there have been major changes, too, since the first owners set up burlap sacks of grain and divvied it out into individual portions. Here are a few of the highlights we reflect on as we look back on our last 50 years.
Deli vault recipes
Over the years, the deli has crafted hundreds of incredible recipes. Sometimes we have to retire recipes (even popular ones) to make space for new dishes. This year, we’re opening up the “deli vault” and sharing some of those old favorites with you. Stay tuned throughout the year to rediscover old favorites or try some new recipes from the co-op!

Giving back to community, supporting the local food system, and helping our food shelf partners are core to Lakewinds’ values, and we are determined to carry this part of our mission forward throughout the following 50 years, too!
